Blindspot
Project Details
A performative scenographic experience of the interpretation of The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. The experience aims to banish the line between the protagonist and the spectator. Combining space, time and activity, 'Blindspot' evokes the feeling of isolation and alienation and leaves the protagonist with the experience which is open-ended and can be interpreted in multiple ways.

The activity of watching itself has become a theme where theatre becomes a place where the gap between art and life is bridged.
The basic structure; to use space, time and activity to trigger the feeling of alienation and further reinforce it.
Aiming to banish the line between the spectator and the performance
The concept for Blindspot lied in creating a barrier between the protagonist and the people of his/her surroundings. Creating an atmosphere where the two are present in the same environment but there is a huge communication gap which reinforces the feeling of being alienated. This was materialized by fabricating this concept through a glass box made of one-way mirror. Since the structure was fragile due to huge panels of glass attached without any casing, the structure was assembled in two parts. The framework was welded in the workshop and then mounted on site where the glass and film were installed respectively. The location we chose was the Eames Plasa, a huge lawn at the National Institute of Design. Paldi. By itself. the Eames a spectacle and an extremelv public place.
